My Aching Feet!
Posted by: | CommentsWent to the podiatrist last week. She couldn’t get in to see my xrays but managed to have a look during the week. Said she could see the area of the stress fx and had a yak to one of the sports docs who agreed that treatment should just involve taking the load off of the bone. So now I have some fancy pants orthotics in my shoes to do that job. It seems to be working as my forefoot isn’t sore, but oh my god, who would have known orthotics could be so uncomfortable! I hope it’s just a matter of getting used to them as I’ve already had them adjusted to make the arch more comfortable (feels like it’s digging into my heel or walking on a rock all day), but a trial walk around an office and a day on your feet are totally different things!
Hip is doing great. Had my trial ‘last’ acupuncture session on Tuesday, she must have wanted to go out with a bang as I ended up with a huge bruise from one of the needles lol I got a new exercise to do to activate my glutes and take the load off my hip flexors. Have to report back next week on how things are so we can decide whether I need to go back.
Off for a bike ride now while there is a gap in the rain. It’s so cold here now! Glad for my new wind/waterproof booties
No Wonder It’s Sore
Posted by: | CommentsApart from showing up to my appointment too early this morning and having to sit in the car for half an hour it went well. Mr R tried his hardest to make my hip snap and it just wouldn’t, almost, but not quite. I could feel and pinpoint the area of discomfort though. He thinks that with the acupuncture and a bit of strengthening it should come right (and really, imo, is already well on the way). He is writing to my physio to tell her to do what. she wants as she can’t break anything lol
Brought up about my foot as I had x-rays taken yesterday, all apparently normal and the fact I was to be sent for a bone scan to be sure. Said I’d rather not have any more radiation and would prefer an MRI if it came to that. That would mean I’d have to be referred to SportsMed for them to send me for an MRI as a GP can’t do this so I asked that even though a stress fx of a metatarsal might be beneath him, if he could possibly write the referral. He pulled up my x-rays on the computer (I love how they can just log in and see everything!), zoomed in on the area in question and said without a doubt there is periosteal reaction indicating a stress fracture (March fracture – common injury in sodiers). The radiologist’s report was indeed normal so he is writing to him to review it and submit a new report lol. Hopefully won’t even need the MRI to confirm now. So looks like I’ll be off to a podiatrist to sort out something for my shoe to help take the pressure off and try to avoid it getting worse and needing casting.
Crazy Dental X-Rays
Posted by: | CommentsMy jaw has been very clunky since I had braces as a teenager. It started off mild and only when I yawned and didn’t bother me, but now it happens all the time. I have to pop it out sideways to get my mouth open a decent amount to eat properly and it even clunks when I talk now. It crunches occasionally and aches, especially when I am exercising and ‘mouth breathing’. Fortunately it has never locked on me because I would totally freak out!
I am off to see an oral surgeon in a couple of weeks in the hope he can make me a splint to wear at night time to help move things back into the correct position.
I had an orthopantomography (OPG) x-ray taken with a panoramic view (image 1) and side views with mouth open and closed (image 2). The x-rays are pretty cool, but I have no idea what I’m looking at so can’t comment on them
