About Me
My name is Jessica (Jess), I’m a 25 year young woman in Christchurch, New Zealand.
I am married to Hamish and have two ‘furbabies’, Cookie, a fiesty tabby DSH and Monty, a soppy red Burmese. I am a Veterinary Nurse and I absolutely love my job!
In June 2007 I underwent a hip arthroscopy for an acetabular labral tear in my left hip. Unfortunately I never recovered 100% and a second MRI arthrogram revealed the tear was still present. After a 3D CT scan, Femoro-Acetabular Impingement (FAI) was found to be a contributing factor. For more information on these conditions, please see my ‘Labral Tears & FAI’ page.
My blog is my outlet, a place where I can let off steam, have a laugh, share stories and meet new people (and I have met some fabulous new friends!). Although I initially set up this blog to inform people of FAI and labral tears and to talk about my journey through hip pain, diagnosis and treatment, I post about every-day life too. Though at the moment, recovery from my second hip scope is taking up most of my time so seems to be the latest theme.
I am an active young woman with a keen interest in road cycling and multisport events. My long-term goal is to complete a half Ironman. I was intending to participate in the South Island 1/2 Ironman at the end of 2009 as a team swimmer but the hip did not allow this.
Feel free to drop me a line, I endeavour to reply to all emails as soon as possible.
Just remember…
