Hip Arthroscopy Recovery Day 9

By Jess

After pushing it a wee bit I have been behaving and practically haven’t moved from the couch except for my daily excursion to the letterbox. I possibly ditched the crutch indoors too soon, so have been using it again.  The joint is feeling really good. I have no pain with weight-bearing, just finding my limitations with ROM and muscle weakness.  Have to go out today and am unsure whether to use one or both crutches, might try just one.

Getting comfortable in bed can be tricky and I think I hog all but one pillow hehe I can however sleep on my operated side for a short period which has been quite nice.

Not much else to report.  I’m bored, sick of TV…have been knitting, reading, watching dvd’s, editing a newsletter for work, facebooking (I think I just made that word up)…I’d just love to go out shopping about now lol.  Am going to visit Mum next week so at least I’ll get a change of scenery and hopefully will have ditched the crutches by then!  Currently torturing myself watching cycling on tv haha

Jess- in my wrath of jealousy one thought occurred to me that you need to find out ASAP and consider….did he put cortisone in your joint post-op?? If so, watch out, you may be overusing the hip only to find the pain has been covered up with steroids. Get back on your crutches!!!

Eeep, not that I know of! I’m sure he would have mentioned that?? Plus…cortisone wouldn’t be a crash hot idea if I’m taking NSAIDs would it?

I’m with Susie, I’m nervous for you to go out without your crutches even if you’re feeling great. You wouldn’t want to cause a flare-up or a set back when you’re doing so well…all this spoken to me in that exact order by PT!!

For my little trip to the dentist in town I took one crutch and did ok (I had a ride to and from). But when I got home I discovered there was no bread for my lunch so had to walk to the service station…for this I took both crutches and realised it was a lot further than I thought about a 20-30 minute round trip. I also discovered that footpaths are very rarely flat lol
I still have quite a limp but can’t figure out for the life of me what is causing it.

This physio student told Jess just the other day to use her crutches…and I think I scolded her for walking 5 steps across the room hmmm…

As for walking to the service station for bread???how come you didnt text me or something and I would have got you some, or brought you stuff from home or something. Stop jumping ahead and ask for some help, I’m just around the corner dammit!!!
